Whitney rekindles the spirit of 60s soul, funk, and R&B, creating a signature sound for a new generation. From Chicago, the band brings a fluid and timeless elegance to the genre, spinning warm harmonies, a sun-drenched falsetto, and arrangements that evoke a bygone era for a modern day. Rejecting mere nostalgia, Whitney transcends their heritage to create a sound that is current, profound, and essential listening.

Formed in Chicago in 2015 by Max Kakacek and Julien Ehrlich after the breakup of Smith Westerns, Whitney quickly established themselves on the American indie folk-rock scene. Their debut album, Light Upon the Lake in 2016, was critically acclaimed. Signed to Secretly Canadian, they followed with Forever Turned Around in 2019 and Spark in 2022, a turn towards a more pop and synth-driven sound marked by contemporary R&B influences. In 2025, the duo released Small Talk, a more intimate and serene album.
