Two guitars, a dreamlike cosmos and a thousand landscapes: the Gutiérrez brothers, born between Zurich and Ecuador, make the desert sing like no one else.
Two men, two guitars — and yet it has it all. Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrez, the sons of a Swiss father and an Ecuadorian mother, grew up in Zurich whilst drawing their musical inspiration from Playas, on Ecuador’s Pacific coast. From this dual heritage emerged a unique instrumental sound, somewhere between the arid vastness of an imaginary Wild West and the nostalgia of 1960s Italian cinema — with Morricone in the background and Latin rhythms as the foundation. Their album El Bueno y el Malo, recorded under the guidance of Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, propelled them onto the international stage and earned them a Grammy nomination. Sonido Cósmico (2024) confirms their trajectory. Music that sings without a singer — and which continues to take the Antigel audience on a journey.
Leaving the desert behind to soar into the cosmos, Hermanos Gutiérrez unveil a new sonic universe on their album Sonido Cósmico, imbued with Latin mysticism and extraordinary guitar playing that “sparkles with hallucinogenic energy” (Rolling Stone). Deep, infinite and spiritual, this new album is an odyssey through lush soundscapes, steeped in the moving legacy of Hermanos Gutiérrez and brilliantly produced by Dan Auerbach.
